Parents,
I had to change practice the next two Fridays. My other daughter has games on those Fridays and my husband works Friday evenings. The practice was changed to Wednesday at 6:30. I am waiting for confirmation from BSC for that time. If you cannot make practice, I understand. As far as my calendar tells me, those are the only two practices I need to change.
Thoughts on the game: We did some things well like passing, trying moves and the basic skills. The girls were very tired and that is not surprising since we haven't played in many months. We have some things to work on, which is to be expected. Now that the girls have 1-2+ seasons under their belts, I am going to up the ante on all of them. They know the basics, and you will hear me challenging them to take it to the next level. I will never be a screamer or demean the girls, but you will hear me trying to get them motivated by telling them to hustle, attack, dribble, etc..
What can parents do?
I am giving you homework for them. Touches on the ball is what is most important at this age. If you would, 3 times a week, have them go outside and dribble, juggle, do moves, play against you, shoot against a fence, anything where their feet touch the ball for 10-15 minutes. That is all it takes.
Continue to encourage the kids on and off the field. If you could remind them that when we substitute, they need to run off the field. Also, encourage them to be good listeners at practice.
Overall, I was pleased with the game. This season will be different since we play boys. If we don't make a big deal out of it, the girls won't make a big deal out of it. We are just playing a soccer game, and it happens to be against boys. I want them to continue to have fun and develop skills. We can do this against girls or boys.
Thanks for being such great parents, I enjoy coaching your children and your positive support on the sidelines.
